„Special people choose special places and these are special places of power.“

Farm Frötscherhof in the winter

In the inner courtyard, there’s ski boot room: your ski and hiking boots are preheated, a wonderful winter day is just around the corner. At the farm Frötscherhof there is a private ski depot with a ski boot dryer.

Mount Plose, right around the corner

Mount Plose is very close to our farm, just 1.5 km away – it is a winter paradise for beginners, experienced skiers, or great freestylers … there is something for everyone.

The perfectly groomed slopes are a real pleasure for every skier. The 2 gondola lifts, Trametsch and Pfannspitz, connect S. Andrea and Eores with the famous Plose ski mountain. The practice slope on the Randötschift is ideal for the first few hours on skis. A special highlight is the longest downhill slope in South Tyrol, the Trametsch. With its 9 km length and 1,400 m difference in altitude, it is and remains a very personal challenge for every experienced skier.

Simply a pleasure, the panoramic turns and technical skiing on over 40 kilometres of slopes.

Not only skiing, but also tobogganing offers great fun on Mount Plose.

Exciting toboggan runs for the whole family. Families particularly look forward to the toboggan runs on Mount Plose during their winter holiday in South Tyrol.

The RudiRun (9 km) from the mountain station to the valley station of the cable car (1 return ride is free with the BrixenCard) – once a week with floodlights. You may rent toboggans at the ski rental shop at the valley station.

A toboggan trip to the Rossalm Kreuztal: With the cable car to the mountain station, then a leisurely 5 km to the Lodge Rossalm, about 100 meters in altitude. Walking time 45 minutes, hiking in the wonderful winter landscape of the Dolomites. The view is unique!

The kilometre-long cross-country ski trail to Passo delle Erbe offers winter guests maximum pleasure.

What else does our sunny mountain offer? A wonderful day of snow hiking with snowshoes to the lodge Skihütte from the mountain station (about 6 km) and ski tours for connoisseurs and nature lovers, a safe destination is probably Mount Gabler.

The lodge Halshütte, an easy, leisurely hike. The Eores Odle tower high above the Halsl. The trail Bachweg, pine scented, with hanging branches full of snow.

Ice skating is possible in the Bressanone ice rink, 6 km away from us.

The climbing centre “Vertikale” in Bressanone is only 7 km away from our farm and leaves an unforgettable impression.

Mount Plose, right around the corner

Alpine plateaus in the near surroundings

There are still plenty of alpine plateaus in the vicinity that can be reached in winter, easily on foot and with a toboggan, or with snowshoes and touring skis.

  • Kreuzwiesenhütte on the Lüsneralm
  • Geisleralm and Gampenalm or Kaserill in Villnössertal
  • Stöfflhütte, Gasserhütte, Almhütte on Rinderplatz or Mair in Plun Hütte on the Villandereralm
  • And on the Rodeneckeralm, there are at least 4 or more lodges that are also open in winter. (But these are also great destinations in summer).

The food is good everywhere; in some huts you even eat like in a gourmet restaurant.

Enjoy the winter
in the mountains of South Tyrol

A winter holiday in South Tyrol has so much to offer. These are just a few tips – there’s plenty of variety and often away from major tourism spots.

  • Skiing on Mount Plose – a true challenge for every skier (www.plose.org). A daily return ticket with the cable car is free with the BrixenCard. You will receive the card at your arrival
  • Snow hiking to the nearby mountain lodges.
  • And what could be nicer than coming home happily after a ski safari, a toboggan adventure or a ski tour and enjoying the outdoor sauna with a wonderful view at the farm Frötscherhof. A sauna session loosens tense muscles and purifies the body, while cooling down in the fresh swimming pond really gets your circulation going. And then unwind in the relaxation room with a good book.
  • The daily stable work with farmer Sepp at 6 am is a highlight for some animal lovers. Everyone can help feed the animals.
  • And last but not least, another highlight is the rustic cellar, an ideal space for social gatherings. There are often convivial moments that nobody would want to miss.

This is a true farm holiday at the Frötscherhof in South Tyrol.
